History & Mission

Founded in 2002, CareWell is a not-for-profit, non government community-based organization registered with the government of India. Our mission is to provide comprehensive rehabilitation, financial empowerment and integrated healthcare to the millions of people living a life of poverty and despair in the urban slums of India.
 
 Objectives
  • Restore dignity and provide the poor and disadvantaged people living in urban slums opportunities to improve the lived of their families.
  • Find employment for residents of slums by matching their talents, education and skill level with suitable opportunities offered in private, government and non government sectors.
  • Foster meaningful partnerships with private corporations, governmental and non governmental organizations to explore and find suitable employment opportunities for the residents of slums.  
  • Educate and empower individuals living in urban slums with government and private sector programs and schemes aimed at generating employment for the poor and the disadvantaged.
  • Provide free, integrated and comprehensive health care to the people living in slums.
  • Infrastructure rehabilitation to improve basic sanitation, hygiene and living conditions of its people.
  • Promote environment awareness and practice environmentally sound strategies among residents of slums.
  • Provide education and scholarships to bright students from poor families.

 Where We Work

Our work is primarily focused in the slums and poor neighborhoods of India. We also work in the state of Bihar, India wherefrom majority of the residents of urban slums migrate. Our work in Bihar is focused on addressing the reasons why people in such large numbers migrate to urban centers even if it means living the hardships of life in slums.

 What We Do & People We Serve

We work with people living in urban slums of India. The focus of our work is employment generation, financial empowerment, free health care including preventive and primary care, prenatal and neonatal care and women’s health, and education and scholarships to the people living in slums. We also provide infrastructure rehabilitation and promote environment awareness in urban slums.
